Here's why iPhone users are facing bugs on PUBG after updating to iOS 13

Key Highlights

Bugs in iOS 13 have left PUBG and Fortnite unplayable on iPhones

Apple is planning an update to fix the issue

Apple recently released stable builds of its latest software, iOS 13, for its most popular iPhones from the past few years. Being the most recent update for iPhones, iOS 13 brings with it a number of new features that help it add new functionality to the phones.

However, as it turns out, this new update may just not be ready for public use. Reports have emerged that reveal that there are some minor, and other serious bugs in code that Apple needs to fix before rolling out the OS update to all users.

One of these bugs is causing an issue with popular battle royale games such as PUBG and Fortnite. Both these games require players to have three fingers in contact with their screen to play the game. However, with the new gesture-based navigation in place in iOS 13, these games have been rendered unplayable as this is bringing up the text-editing gesture while in the game.

While PUBG and Fortnite developers have acknowledged the issue, and Fortnite even including an in-game notice announcing the possible disruption to matches due to the iOS 13 feature, the two haven't talked about a solution to this yet.

And with no way to disable the text-editing gesture, the only solution that is left in front of PUBG and Fortnite players on iOS is to not update their operating systems till there is a fix for the issue.

For its part, Apple has said that it's working on a fix for the issue. Apple will roll out iOS 13.1 on September 24, six days ahead of its previously planned release date of September 30. This update is expected to fix the text-editing gesture to only activate in required situations.

Apart from this, iOS 13.1 will also patch a lock screen bypass exploit, as well as introduce several new features such as automated Siri Shortcut actions and an Apple Maps feature to share a user’s ETA to a destination.
